Dialogue on Tax and SDGs – 2023 Edition / Day 3

As the pivotal midpoint of the 2030 Agenda draws closer, taxation stands at the forefront of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Tax systems are capable of so much more than mere revenue generation – they can be instrumental in driving sustainable development, fortifying social contracts, and directly influencing key SDGs related to health, climate, and good governance.

Building on its successful predecessor, the 2023 edition of the Dialogue aims to deepen the understanding of the complex relationship between tax and SDGs. This platform brings together global policymakers, administrators, diplomats, thought leaders, and emerging talents from across the globe for bold dialogues and actionable solutions to forge interdisciplinary approaches to tax and explore innovative tax measures that can drive sustainable development.

The previous Dialogue convened over 230 top-tier participants, including Finance Ministers, Heads of Tax Administration, UN Ambassadors, and leading civil society organizations. Learn more about it.

This year, the Dialogue will delve deeper into the strategic role of tax policies and administration in building fairer societies supported by efficient, just and robust tax systems. It will tackle pressing issues such as climate financing, privatization of tax administration, inter-generational debt impacts, and harnessing tax measures for SDG financing.
